The Spring 2002 WestFest was the first time for an art car procession, where beads are thrown from an art car procession, which went through the festival grounds.  Although this was never done during the original WestFest when it was held on Westheimer, the 'funeral procession' might be a scaled-down mocrocosm of Mardi Gras, except that there was no flashing.
